I was watching "World's Scariest Police Videos" on Fox tonight and
Sheriff Brunnel (ret.) stated that there are more people killed by drunk
drivers in a year than all other forms of homicide combined.
Yet, DUI (or the equivalent), is considered a "minor" crime or offense
not worthy of any serious incarceration. In a DUI case, if there is no
injuries or serious property damage, it's "no harm, no foul". Yeah,
right.
When a person is killed as a result of a DUI "accident", there is no
moral outrage, no call to arms to control motor vehicles, no threat of
lawsuits against the automobile manufacturers, or any of the other
hysteria associcated with a "gun" crime.
It appears that people have more rights concerning their vehicles and
driver's licenses which are NOT Constitutionally protected than one's
right to keep and bear arms which IS a Constitutionally protected
activity. Or so say the LIbEralS.
Abject hypocrisy is what it is. Could it be that there are many LIbEralS
who get popped for DUI (Dee Dee, are you reading this?), and as such,
they don't want THEIR behavior (read that to be "fun") curtailed?
ie. Do as I say and not as I do.
