subject: Fidonet vs Y2K Monster?

Greetings All,

Has there been any proposals in regards to updating / correcting and/or
handling this up comming event? It appears there are a number related FTSC
file formats that will need to be adjusted to compensate for the short
commings.

Right off the top of my head, we could take the 2 characters allocated
for a year in a *.pkt and calculate the year as hi-byte/lo-byte. I'm not
sure what the ramifications are to trying such a move, especially in
regards to fidonet software authors (a dying breed to be sure) who
impliment their own creative method for dealing with the problem.

   Comments?

Regards,
Gord
