Paul, at 02:44 on Mar 30 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley...

That's not the point though, Paul.

I know that, but you specifically stated that the manual says nothing about
having to write the baud rate to NVRAM, yet it's clearly mentioned on
several occasions throughout the manual.

BG> If that's not clear enough for you, I give up.

PE> You should have ditched your zealotry a LONG time ago, Bill. Can't
PE> you even see the total lack of logic in all that you are saying?

I'm not saying that, the manual is. And I was simply correcting you.

PE> You're quoting above the normal operating procedure of ALL modern modems,
PE> INCLUDING ones (ie all except USR) that CORRECTLY autobaud detect.

Careful Paul, there happen to be some HS modems which DON'T work that way
at all. The Interlink is one that comes to mind immediately. Stupid
bastards made locked serial port rates an OPTIONAL EXTRA on some of their
models! I forget which ones now, but Rod likely knows, as his opinion of
Interlink closely matches mine, from memory.

PE> You quote AT&B2 when I am using AT&B1. You then fail to

Dunno, there are those who might rather unkindly suggest that you are the
world's greatest argument in favour of retrospective abortion.

But not me, I'm far too polite to say such an awful thing. :)

Regards, Bill
