-> This is of no benefit to me at work where, as a
-> network/system administrator, I have purchased a number of
-> U.S.Robotics Sportster modems. Where I work, due to
-> security, I CANNOT call out to a public line via modem.
-> Therefore I can not upgrade my Sportsters using the
-> "Wizard". I *can* bring in code on disk from home, just
-> can't dial-out directly from work to obtain it. An SDL
-> would be fine. Not a "Wizard".
JM> Frank, if the modems need the update then you might

I cannot do that. They are internal modems and I cannot
remove the computers from the workplace due to security
reasons.
JM> Being that you are a network administrator I may
JM> guess that the modems are being used for a RAS server.
The modems in question are not. They are being used for
simple dialup access.
JM> If this is the case the update will not improve the

This is not the case.
-> And PLEASE continue making the SDL for Couriers available
-> in the future! And preferably add the Sportster back in
-> the SDL channel.
->
-> Or, another alternative maybe.... JAVA.
JM> Sportster modems were never in the SDL channel as the
JM> product never had a flash chip in them.
SDL's never worked on Sportsters? I thought it did. I've
always owned Couriers at home.
JM> I do not understand your reference to JAVA. Every time
JM> I use my browser and it says "Starting Java", it is

Lessee... Windows and Mac support only, no other operating
system support... Forget JAVA, it's too slow... no doubt
about what camp 3Com is in. Has the DOJ called you guys to
testify yet?
