I'm curious what effect this new incoming PCI bus std (PCI-X(press)) will
have on the bigger box makers as it certainly looks to me like it would
suffice for even large boxes (esp if you can simply keep doubling PCI-X
lanes).
Already we're seeing (with the steady growth in the AMD-64 clone market)
server style stuff moving towards the clone mobo makers e.g. multi-cpu
mobo's with 4/8+ RAM banks.
When you consider that the vast majority of the server market is 4CPU &
below then I reckon AMD-64 & the cloners +PCI-X (+S-ATA???) may be able
to become the basic server std.
