Hmm.  Next question, then, is: is Zinc fully reentrant?  That is, no
unrestricted accesses to global data, no globals used as local
variables, that kind of thing?

Actually, another question of great importance to me: is the Zinc stuff
written in C++?  I simply won't do C-based user interfaces anymore.
