LE>> Shouldn't make any difference, since they are all made in the
LE>> same factory. But of course they were gray-marketed. Why should I
 LE>> line Westan's pockets ?
BG> Fair enough, but how do you feel about denying your customers the full 3
BG> year warranty as offered by Westan on their HDs?

I don't sell systems or drives, I just use them. In any case, the warranty
is still redeemable with the o/s supplier, and as with modems, I always
extend the o/s wty to Oz. It's not the kind of thing you claim on often
enough to lose much money doing.

 LE>> It's specifically the 850 I don't like.
BG> I've never used one, so I'm unable to comment. However, in his typical
BG> manner, Grant made a blanket statement which included ALL Western Digital
BG> HDs, and such generalisations are patently false.

*yawn* ;-) I've got this 10-year old Seagate 20Mb MFM drive, and it's CRAP,
and overheats. Therefore I should not consider Seagate when looking for a
new 2Gbyte drive.

 LE>> The 210 (still made??), 340, 420, 540 are fine. Other sizes, I haven't
 LE>> tried (I believe there is a 730.. haven't tried it).
BG> Nice to see that you're a bit more open-minded than Grant. |-)

Well, maybe I've just had more different drives through my hands. Mind you,
the 340 is a bit of a maverick as well, it sounds totally different to most
of the others. Most of my machines use WD drives (I get itchy buying brands
like Samsung).
