I do think that when we start expecting that the schools and teachers
can be 100% responsible for the learning that students do or do not
experience, that we are deluding ourselves. Somewhere along the line the
students and their families must also make an investment in and
commitment to the whole process. Without such an active role on the part
of the students and their families, I think that the best the schools
can do is tread water.
