RB>> Was it Paul who said something to the effect of..." Buying a USR

RB>> to do 33600 connects and 3900+ Cps,

BG> It's 4000 cps actually, but then you already know that. :)

I know I knew that, I was just toning things down.

Those who can not see (with their own eye (singular.. as in one

eyed) ... do not believe.

RB>> is not worth the $200 over the top of buying a Netcomm 28800..... It

 BG> would

RB>> take years to pay off

BG> Yes, it was indeed Paul Edwards who said that.

Read my previous statement

RB>> Well I have just done some tests with two indentical Couriers linked

RB>> together with a 2 metre cable (transferring at 33600 then 28800)

RB>> File 300teru.zip 1432681 bytes

RB>> 33600\33600 connect 3883cps time 6 min 10 sec

RB>> 28800\28800 connect 3329cps time 7 min 15 sec

BG> Why only 3883 cps with the 33600 bps connect? That's a bit slow.

Hey, I am using W95 here still. Need I say more.

RB>> You save one full minute on a 1.4meg file.

 BG> True.

RB>> And if you are doing this on anything but a local call, then

RB>> these minutes add up (specially at say, $1 per minute)

 BG> True again.

RB>> Saving a dollar a minute is significant to me.

RB>> 200 minutes and you have bought your courier.

RB>> Even at 50c a minute, it is nothing to sneeze at.

BG> Nice little exercise, but I don't think that Paul makes too many outbound

BG> calls, and certainly very little in the way of STD stuff. Of course, the

 BG> same

BG> would still apply to his inbound STD and ISD callers. Good point though.

   Some people are Soooo Tight

Don't even spend money so their users can actually save money

...Call it Goodwill...

You scratch my back... I'll stab yours

Doesn't leave a good taste in a users mouth.

Why isn't he still using a 2400 Netcomm, If he wants to be mean,

I could Give him one that I have here.

Being an internal with the 1983 written on the chips it

would have cost twice the price of a Courier.

I suppose this only goes to show you that you can't be mean

and save money at the same time.
