-> Perhaps, but will Clinton's replacement be any better?
->
-> Dole? Look at his voting record on judges. He's *far* to the left
-> when it comes for voting in judicial nominees.
Bob Dole has never had to CHOOSE judges before, just vote to confirm or
not confirm someone elses choices. He appears to have held the attitude
that if the guy nominated wasn't completely incompetent or an
out-and-out crook, he would vote for whoever the president nominated
under the theory that such choices were a president's perogative.
If the Republicans retain control of both houses, I expect Gingrich and
Lott to exercise CONSIDERABLE influence over Doles choices. Thus, I
expect Doles nominees to be a SIGNIFICANT improvement over whoever
Clinton would nominate.
-> JP>If we go there now and LOSE, future Supreme Courts will probably
-> be JP>reluctant to reverse such a decision.
->
-> Perhaps, but according to what I've read on the NRA's home page the
-> 2nd amendments been up before the Supreme Court several times in the
-> past, and pretty much uniformly been held as an individual right.
To the best of my knowledge, no gun control law has ever been ruled
unconstitutional by the Supreme Court because it violated our Second
Ammendment right to keep and bear arms. Something I hope to see happen
in my lifetime.
-> JP>Patience, people, patience.
->
-> For what?
->
-> For them to take still more of our rights away? Is that going to be
-> better?
If conditions are such that they will take more of our rights away, then
we will probably lose the case now anyway.
-> Will we be better able to defend ourselves later if we wait?
In my opinion, yes.

John
