If you want a decent firewall for a home machine, www.sygate.com and grab
the free version (free to home users). Couple features are limited but the
default settings for those features are pretty decent. What I like most
about the firewall is that if someone port scans you, it completely blocks
them so if you use high ports for something they either have to do a
distributed scan or scan 4 ports every 10 minutes to find out which ports
you have open.
