Hello Dale.

31 May 04 01:00, you wrote to me:

DS|> Out of curiousity, I just went and read P4 again with respect to
DS|> ZMH. In section 1.3.3, it is defined as:

DS|>   ==quote==
DS|> Zone Mail Hour (ZMH) is a defined time during which all
DS|> nodesin a zone are required to be able to accept netmail.
DS|>   ==endquote==

DS|> I do not see that all nodes are required to accept netmail from all
DS|> nodes, just that all nodes are required to accept netmail.

I saw that too.

DS|> And then later on in section 2.1.8, it is said:

DS|>     ==quote==
DS|> Any system which wishes to be a part of FidoNet must be able to
DS|> receive mail during this time using the protocol defined in the
DS|> current FidoNet Technical Standards Committee publication (FTS-0001
DS|>   at this writing).
DS|>     ==endquote==

DS|> I read that to say "must be able to receive", and not
"must receive
DS|>   any mail sent".

Interesting point.

DS|> I'd never really thought much about these things before, but this
DS|> reading makes me wonder why some are saying that "all nodes must
DS|> accept mail from all other nodes". What say the rest of you?

You've brought up some interesting points I must say.

Robert
