subject: Pearl(?) language/compiler

Has anyone heard of a language/compiler name Pearl (or Perl)? and if yes,
is it available in an OS/2 version?
I have been told that it is a variant of 'C', specifically designed for
programming realtime systems. I'd like to know more about it before I
proceed with my efforts in controlling my model railroad with a
multithreaded C program (which is not too bad, but might become easier).
 Thanks, Rob
