subject: NASA, shuttle, anyone?

CA>CA>> I would prefer that NASA discontinue launchings of the
CA>CA>> shuttles but I have a feeling they will continue until
CA>CA>> there is another horrific outcome. :-(

CA>TA> My eldest son's MOS in the Marines was parachute packer.
CA>TA> After some close instructions and practice they got to pack
CA>TA> a chute on their own; then they had to jump at 5k feet
CA>TA> altitude to reinforce the need to be good at their job (and
CA>TA> again now and again when it pleased the Chief of
CA>TA> Operations).

CA>TA> Maybe it might help at NASA if some of the Quality
CA>TA> Inspectors of work on the preparation of shuttles drew some
CA>TA> short straws to be included in the next launch crew ?

CA>Sounds like a plan to me! :-)

CA>I really tend to place the blame with management more than with
CA>the bottom rung technicians though.

I see your point. Having worked both sides of the work bench
I'll suggest the worker that draws the short staw can pick
which manager will fly with him or her.
