I agree that the Russian versions are better overall. The Chinese versions 
are made (generally) for the smaller shooter. I also agree that the screwed 
barrel versions are superior, however, I have one of the "B" models (takes 
the AK detachable mags). It was made in China and has the staked barrel. It 
has a much shorter barrel that the 10 round box magazine varient, and I can 
get 5" groups at 100yds all day long, and most of that is me! Not bad for 
what is, essentially, a carbine. I would not be afraid of the staked 
barrels myself, but there is probably a wide variation in quality on these 
barrels, so I may have been lucky.
