Sorry to hear that. It really is quite an impressive fade and, since 
it was published in PC Mag as a general purpose thing, I guess you 
must have an unusual video card. I seem to recall that you said
MODE CON LINES=43
didn't work either. Weird!

If you want a (blank) screen saver try turning to VDU off. Saves 
electricity (;=))> [bald, big nose, big grin, beard].
Try this as a software way of doing it (so long as you aren't using
video page 1). Again can't guarantee that it'll work on your machine
but it should.
