On 3/6/97, George Erdner grokked ""Best" Albums", and said to Scott R. Godin:
GE> Now, after re-reading Mike Feather's definition of Progressive as it
GE> was quoted in Mike Taylor's definition of Progressive, I stand by my
GE> original claim that the song "Funeral for a Friend" is just as much a
GE> Prog-Rock opus as anything that any artist who is accepted as a Prog
GE> Rocker has ever produced.
GE>
GE> And after re-reading the definition, I am more convinced than ever
GE> that what makes a work of music Prog-Rock is the SOUND of the song,
GE> not the credentials of the musician. With apologizies to those who
GE> don't need to have everything spelled out, "If it SOUNDS like the
GE> music described in the official definition of Prog-Rock, then it's a
GE> Prog-Rock song".
Well nothing wrong with "flying in the face of conventional wisdom"... seems
to be the driving thrust behind a good prog anyway. =8)
