I tried going through my local bank and it was just an endless loop of delays 
and more demands of "give us this information, and give us that information."
Finally I called Discover Card and had a merchant account established in less 
than 3 days. No hassles at all. The total startup fee was $249 for the charge 
processing software, compared to several thousand that a couple services 
wanted. We can accept Visa, Mastercharge, and Discover. AMEX is also 
available.
They have an 800 # .. just check with Dir Information...
