subject: And yet another bug!

This isn't my day, I guess...
I have a simple numerical data type in a SUB. I set it to, say, '5'
and simply attempt to PRINT it. I get a run-time overflow at the
print command!
Of course it doesn't do this consistently. just *below* the PRINT
command I have a FOR/NEXT with STEP -1. If I change the STEP to '1' I
get no error. I tried a DO/LOOP increment, no error; decrement, error.
These loops are beyond the PRINT statement, and should have
absolutely *nothing* to do with the command. But it does...
Why?!?
How can an overflow error occur on a PRINT statement anyway,
expecially with the such a low number? If I print the var as
HEX$(var) then it works, but 'var' by itself I get the error.
Why???
