  The attempt to change only the fidonews node number came first -- and
  had 0 response.  Then came the next attempt which actually got about
  half way to successful conclusion (i.e. it was favored by the majority
  of the RCs that did vote, but they were only about half the required
  quorum).

  Maybe under more consistent leadership, and with some revision, the
  revision might still have a chance.
