CC> why is that bike riders are supposed to get off of there bike and
CC> walk them across the road why cant we ride across?
Assuming that you are riding on the road, a bicycle is a vehicle and as such
the bicycle rider has all the rights and responsibilities of the operator of
any vehicle. Do the drivers of cars and trucks get out and push their
vehicle across the road? Yield to traffic if necessary, stop at stop signs
and for red lights; when the intersection is clear, then ride across the
intersection like any vehicle.
Now if by "across the road" you mean in pedestrian cross walks, vehicles
don't cross the road in pedestrian cross walks. If you use pedestrian
facilities, then become a pedestrian and walk. That is one advantange
bicyclists have over motorists; we _can_ become pedestrians when necessary.
