I don't notice much slowness here either, same setup you described but with
an Actix GE32+ (S3 80x VLB)... I run with animation disabled, so I can't
say that I see the redraws much, but I do notice a delay while it
"thinks" before doing a redraw. It's noticeable, but nowhere near
as bad as what Peter's describing.
