MK> TW> Wel that is where the Internet coems in handy. I see Tiger direct has
MK> TW> the V.92 USR serial External Modems for $84.99
MK> TW> The USR suggested list if $119

MK>I suppose. Although that isn't really an option if you can't connect in the
MK>first place due to a stupid internal pci modem doing nothing but wasting
MK>electricity. ;-)

They take Telephone calls.

MK> TW> That is an unknown. Interestingly China has been very good so far as
MK> TW> far
MK> TW> as Quality goes. NOW they do sel ljunk for those that want Cheep at
MK> TW> Any
MK> TW> Price, Like the Packard Bell Computers!!!

MK>Or Compaq. Man are those things lame. I've seen some really oddball stuff
MK>happen with those, usually bios related. I stay away from them although I h
MK>gutted a few for parts, mostly ram.

I have had pretty good luck with the Compaq's that I have been
associated with. An assortment of DeskPros with 250 to 500 Mhz CPU's
The biggest problem is that a lot of the parts are exclusive to compaq.
Like theri Floppy Drives. and some of the PCI/ISA cards are non standard
in their mounting.
