| subject: | Serious flaw in netware c |
In a message dated 06-2894, David Nugent said to All: DN| * This program documents and demonstrates what appears to be a a serious | * defect in the Novell NetWare Client for OS/2 version 2.10. This defect Novell broke other things with their latest requester. BMR, the SEND/RECEIVE messging tool that I coauthored, no longer functions. After a little investigation, we traced it to the simple and well documented call NWGetBroadCastMessage (from memory :). I sent in a simple 20 line character mode program that recreates this to Novell Support (my company was in the "Professional Developers" program). Worked fine with 2.01, failed badly with the 2.1 requester ... most mesages seemed to dodge this call and get lost. Novell reported a couple of weeks later, "sure, we've recreated this" ... it's been 3+ months now with no solution or workaround. I'm pretty dissapointed with Novell. Should I do any more coding for their API? Nick ..
