-=> Quoting Ed Grinnell to Stephen Frazier <=-
EG> Stephen Frazier was seen kissing Large Marge and telling us:
SF> L E S S ??? Less than what, Bill Gates? They tried to sign belle for
SF> EIGHT MILLION.
EG> You throw that out as if I'm supposed to be impressed. Despite the
I don't know what got into me. When you said they tried to get Belle CHEAP, I
had no idea what you call cheap.
EG> foolishness of those that believe that Belle is a cancer on baseball,
I'm not one of those. I think he's quite a deent ballplayer, but good as he
is, he hasn't been what he Indians needed to get the ring.
EG> the fact is, he's worth up to $11 mil (As the White Sox fans how much
EG> he's worth. They're buying tickets like they're going to the World
EG> Series).
Sure. They may even buy as many as the Indians did the past five years. But
ehy will still watch the Series on TV jsut like I will.
SF> They traded for Williams when they came to their senses and figured
SF> they may as well try and get a multi-dimensional player instead of
SF> just a wallbanger.
EG> Bull pucky. They traded for Williams when they felt Belle was going to
EG> leave and they had to have SOMEONE who would hit the ball out of the
EG> park. The only thing that they cared about Williams is that he could
EG> hit it out of the park and he was going to be cheaper than Belle.
If he can hit them out and not cause them any pain in the field, then I think
they made a goo d deal. The Indians will certainly get closer to a ring than
will the Sox next year.
SF> same time. Williams will be a lot less a liability at third than is
SF> Belle in left.
EG> ONLY if he's in the lineup.
He won't have to work as hard at third base in the AL anyway.:)
SF> Hitting 50 homers and 50 doubles last year, followed by 48 homers and
SF> 150+ RBI was a big factor. Still, no one in the world is worth ten
SF> million dollars.
EG> Really? Then stop watching television and movies so we can get those
EG> losers to sign for more sensible salaries.:-^
I haven't been to a movie since 1968 and I only watch TV when there is
someone
doing something with a ball or watching an animal ripping out another one's
guts and eating him up. I don't buy beer or tobacco and I drive a 1977
Lincoln, so the big ad boys don't get a dime of my money.
