WC>-> This was an External so NO com port to set. Ande as I mentioned i na WC>-> mesage Knoppis found it and it dialed out and negotated a connection WC>-> with my ISP phone number. WC>Maybe your release is differnet but my KPPP dialer requires setting the WC>COM port to tty/S0 which corresponds to COM 1 my external serial port. WC>All releases of Linux I'veplayed with required this either from the WC>command line or from the GUI interface. In my test of the USR sportster Knoppix auto-detected the modem connected to Com2 and I didn't have to set it. This was using a 3.6 CD. NOW on another machine test it didn't auto detect the Creative External. But neither did the Linspire Live CD setup. LINUX still has a very LONG ways to go to be Friendly enough for the Typical Home Computer User. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
