| subject: | Re: MS wireless behavior by design? |
From: "Frank Haber" I see Rich has set you straight on the reflash. On the reconnect, and the re-ID-ing of existing APs whenever the weather or your underwear changes - well, that's just MS helping you again with the notorious WZC. I hear it'll get better in XP SP2, but the question of mandatory SIDs is still up in the air, I think. Some people actually run full driver stacks in XP instead of bothering with the builtin MS stuff. I'm not even sure how to do that. All my roaming/wireless machines are 98 or 2000, so I haven't had to learn. And I hate USB for anything that doesn't have to be USB. The wired Ether card driver arrangement is one of the best things about NT. It's low-overhead, crisp and reliable. If you can run a wire, why lay yourself open to grief? --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 379/45 1 633/267 |
