Nope.  I am betting your kernel should have the proper module already and
load it.  How does it detect the ne2000?

I am sure it would.  If it doesn't then something is amiss.  The 3c509's
are a staple card in tcpip networking.  They used to be EVERYWHERE not that
long ago.
