Not exactly the same thing or reason...the salt actually makes them DRINK 
more water.  They have to drink the water to get the electrolytes!  That's 
why I use the salt.  They don't need the elecs., but they do need the water.
Now, if they were in heavy training, and it was hot and they were sweating a 
lot, THEN I'd add the elecs.  You can lead a horse to water, but you can't 
make them drink their electrolyte soup :)
