Had a good Z3T packet yesterday, around 50 messages, including quite a few
from NZ, so that link appears to be OK now.  Still poor levels overall
though.

Yeah, more than likely.  I cut most of my OS echos some time ago.  Nothing
in USR_Modems for the whole time either, which would indicate that the
problem is down your way somewhere.  As you say, it's probably Dave Hatch.
