From an energy standpoint, the effiency is greater. But from an
economic one. It is far more costly. Electricity is simply more
expensive than gasoline.
Now, if one can take their car motor and place it on a fixed station,
cogenerating heat and electricity. Then it would pay, IF you have a
use for the heat byproduct. But, for most of us that simply isn't
practical.
