Hi Ken, you where saying:
KP>probably do most of their riding 'on the hoods' with several fingers
drapped
KP>over the brake levers. You can't apply quite as much pressure from that
KP>position, but with a flick of the wrists you are off the hoods and in the
KP>drops and can apply full braking pressure.
that's very interesting and informative. Next time I watch a race on tele
I'll take special care to note all them things. Makes it all the more
interesting.
KP>What I find _really_ uncomfortable is trying to do a 100 km ride with
KP>straight handlebars and no real possibility of changing positions on the
KP>bike.
I believe you, I myself go in more for comfort then for speed...

KP>Well, I definitely do get cranky when I come upon someone riding on the
wrong
KP>side of the road on a bicycle. They obviously have no knowledge of the
rules
KP>of the road. Since they don't have enough sense to ride on the right
KP>(correct) side of the road, there is no way for me to predict what the
idiot
KP>is going to do when I find us heading toward a head on collision with
em.
Well, judging by the very informative road signs for cyclists on this
stretch, it is allowed to use the cycle lane on this particular instance
on the wrong side of the road.
It's just, that when one wants to do a bit of speed training, don't look
at me,:) the conditions are not really suitable. Even very early in the
morning.
But it's still much better then riding on the Great Trunk Road across
India, as observed on tele, where a lonely bloke on a cycle had a hard
time making his way amongst the traffic...hehehe
Came across some news item, where in Copenhagen the city provides
free bicycles for the use of the public. Apparently there are
cycle parking stations, where after inserting some coins, one can
take a bike, ride it to another parking stations or wherever, leave
the bike and retrieve his coin when he does so....We had a similar thing
going for shopping trolleys, and I bumped into a similar set up at air
ports, for luggage trolleys....
Happy cycling....Bill:)
