 Hi Chris,
MD> I DL'd a file from AOL of graphics with the .pcx exten-
MD> tion. Exactly where in GWE do I store these files?
CS> You can store them anywhere. My suggestion: if you only have
CS>a single hard drive partition (C:), create a GRAPHICS subdir-
CS>ectory in the root (C:\) and then create subdirectories for
CS>different kinds of images (i.e.: ANIMALS, BCKGRNDS, COMPUTERS,
CS>whatever... and sort the images into those subdirectories e.g.:
CS>C:\GRAPHICS\ANIMALS). You use GeoDraw to import the images in-
CS>to Ensemble, and you can then use them in GeoDraw or use the
CS>clipboard to transfer them to GeoWrite or Scrapbook, etc.
CS>GeoDraw will default to looking for the images in your Ensemble
CS>DOCUMENT directory, so you might want to make the GRAPHICS sub-
CS>directory a sub of the DOCUMENT directory as an alternative.
Thanks for the quick reply and very useful information. I'll start on
it ASAP. Time...all I need is time. I wonder if it's worth the
effort of learning all there is in Geoworks...of course with Microsoft
around it's like blowing against the wind.
MD> Also, the entire picture did not come out, only a half
MD> screen... is there anyway of getting the complete pic-
 MD> ture?
CS> I'm not sure what the problem is here, without seeing the
CS>file itself. It COULD be a bad file to start with.
I've been checking them out. I'm not sure they were intended to be
full pics but some of the ones I DL'd from BBS's were the same and
were in full screen. I'm just deleting those I don't care for and
hang on to the rest for future use.
MD> Last but not the least, can .pcx be converted to a
 MD> .bmp/.gif/.jpg?
CS> Yes. In fact, Ensemble should be able to handle a conver-
CS>sion to .bmp or .gif... unfortunately NOT .jpg. Ensemble can
CS>also work with .tif's and .clp's, plus there is a utility
CS>from Marcus Groeber that will allow importing of .cgm's and
CS>.hpl's or whatever (the .hpl's are CAD files).
OK, where do I start? I tried Bob's idea but didn't get very far.
When I go into Geodraw and click on other, I do not see import/export
  commands. Any other suggestions?
While we're on the subject Chris, I have an Epson Stylus Pro Color
Inkjet printer. Geos does not list this printer so I use as an
emulation Epson LQ2550. In high mode it takes forever to print out 1
page. I'm not very good at the terminology, but did Geos upgrade the
list of printers, or is there any other way around this problem? I
hope you understand what I'm trying to explain, because I even lost
  myself. :)
Thanks Chris for all the help.
Maryann
