Due to the fact that I'm about to start hacking and slashing tobruk in an
attempt to get proper netmail routing capabilities in, I am releasing
Tobruk 0.40 now.
This version introduces the ability to write to a *.MSG messagebase without
using MSGAPI. This is useful on Unix, Amigados etc. Or it would have
been, if I hadn't ported MSGAPI38 to those environments soon after!
FREQ "TOBRUK" (and "MSGAPI38.ZIP" if you want to
recompile the source) from 3:711/934 to get the new version. Note that
MSGAPI38.ZIP is due to be renamed and taken over by Andrew Clarke, so that
archive is not really even quasi-official anymore. The next version of
Tobruk to be released will use the official version from Andrew. This is
the official version of Tobruk though!
It is unknown how well MSGAPI38 works on the Amiga and Unix.
I no longer have the ability to make things available for ftp (my ISP
disabled ftp). There is every possibility that Bob Juge will FREQ both
things from 3:711/934 and make them available from 1:106/2000 and juge.com,
but there's no guarantee (actually, I've just checked my logs and he didn't
get pdpzm et al, so that source may no longer be valid).
Here is a blurb on Tobruk...
TOBRUK - a Fidonet mailprocessor
- completely public domain!
- comes with complete C source code!
- C code is very portable!
- Has been compiled on OS/2 32-bit, MSDOS 16-bit, AmigaDOS and Unix!
- Capable of processing messages up to 2 gig in length, even if
it only has a 20k buffer to work with!
- Writes to both *.MSG and Squish messagebases.
- Tests on MY config (all passthrough echos to service points)
indicate that it is 4 times faster than Squish 1.11!
- Code compiles with virtually no warnings whatsoever!
- Only handles the one address.
- About 200k in size.
It will be hatched into the PDOMAIN TIC echo too. There was a zone 2 site
(IBM actually) who FREQed some of my stuff, in case you're interested in
PDPZM etc that I announced before. 2:380/106.
BFN. Paul.
