-=> Quoting Bob Moylan to Jerry Schwartz <=-
BM> Jerry Schwartz On (25 Jan 97) was overheard to say to Ann Marie
BM> Rivera
JS> Well, some people with AD(H)D have reported being hypersensitive to
JS> sounds and touch; my son doesn't seem to be.
BM> Nor is mine...
Mine even gets upset at a glance. The ever dreaded "What are you looking
at".
JS> this now, but in the past he needed constant entertainment (which now
JS> includes reading, at least): if he didn't have anyone to play with, we
JS> had to be playing with him, taking him somewhere, etc. His needs were
JS> insatiable.
BM> Do you really mean his "wants" were insatiable? We are still in that
BM> phase but not as bad as it used to be... Quite by accident I
BM> discovered that my son is _very_ interested in woodworking, he will
BM> go to his room and watch the "New Yankee Workshop" on PBS whenever it
BM> is on ... hey it's loads better than MTV!! He now has "his" tools
BM> (all hand tools) and a stash of scrap lumber. I can never find an
BM> unused screw or a nail when I really need one.. (-8 We just finished
BM> a school project that he pretty much designed and built with minimal
BM> help....had to incorporate 3 simple machines into one functional
BM> "thing"...simple machines being screw, wheel/axle, ramp, lever,
BM> pulley etc..it's basically made of wood. He actually drew a plan
BM> before he picked up a tool.... now if this will HURRY UP and CARRY
BM> OVER..!!
Mine are into electronics. It use to be wood. I would discover my
backyard full of wood and my husband screaming to find his tools. And
vaccumning was always fun. I just throughly enjoyed seeing the tinest
of screws flying across the room and wading through boards across every
thing. Now its electronic. They, actually Jeremy with his brother
assistant, has discovered how to make a battery charger. Of course, this
means taking the radio and what nots apart.
