subject: where do you draw the line?

I've been listening to the radio today, and also caught some news on the
tv this evening...

There's a bit of a thing going on over in Harrisburg, along the
riverfront. One of several that they do each year, I guess Memorial Day
weekend being the first, July 4th and Labor Day being a couple of other
ones. And there's a lot of emphasis on "security".

And the thing that bothers me the most is the part about everybody being
"subject to search". That would presumably include my person,
and more likely than not, the fanny pack I wear whenever I go out of the
house here, which as it turns out usually contains my weapon of choice.

I don't think I'd care too much for a public display of that. Or for what
I've got in my pockets, or where I keep my cash, etc.

In fact, I don't think I'd care too much for the idea of being
"subject to search" at all. If they _asked_, I'm fairly sure
I'd have to decline. If they insisted, I think I'd want to know what I
was being charged with, at the very least.

I don't have any plans to attend this event, as it turns out, so it's not
_that_ pressing an issue for me, but I've been thinking about this stuff,
and I'm thinking about where I might want to draw the line...

How about you?
