I'm running most recent IE6, I think, and it lets me use that syntax to
access my web space over FTP. I can even put it in my favourites so, apart
from the password being visible to anyone who examines the properties, it
just works.

I'd have thought this was the ideal for Frank's friend. He can d'n'd with
IE into the space using FTP and his contact can use HTTP to get it out.
