Shooting a cat will not automatically bring a person up on cruelty
charges. If you're going to run off at the mouth about this, you should
at least know something about it.
Many areas consider feral cats to be vermin type nuisance animals. Not
only won't they take them into a shelter, they expect you to shoot them
and kill them. They are pests, destructive to native wild animals, and
disease vectors.
In some places simply taking them in can bring you up on charges.
And for what it's worth, cat's not a bad tasting meat. Although I do
prefer dog.
