Hi Errol, ES> RG>Don't hold your breath... have you seen the spec's for ARJ ? ES> That was actually sarcasm when I ES> mentioned an ARJ on the 64 (: Besides, if Nah, what you mean is that you *intended* it to be sarcasm. People used to be just as "sarcastic" when talking about the possiblities for OLR's on the C64/128 (we now have both) :-) ES> Besides, if we did have one it would take an extremely long time ES> to run.. Why ? Is then any reason that you know of why it would run any slower than ARC or LHZ ? (go on, tell me you were being sarcastic again). ES> But seriously we do need a format like ES> ARJ/ZIP (the ibm zip that is) to ES> both compress & 'bundle' files together ES> into the one archive. If I knew We already have ARC (two formats) and LZH (c128 only), plus the new back-up utility from USA (the name eludes me at the moment) that does this, so other than to allow us CBMers to maintain compatibilty with other machines why do we need another? (more sarcasm ?) ES> anything about compression I'd do it but I don't so I won't (: Ditto. ES> Pretty sure I'm using v14. I'll use LBR ES> in future as that seems to be the defacto standard. Nah... ARC (or SDA) is more of a standard than LBR (where have you been hiding for the last 10 years?) ES> demos as they are usually an ES> entire disk side (sometimes 2 sides!), so ES> they have to be split up into 2 ES> or more files instead of the one. Nope, you can easily create ARC's of ANY size. Dissolving them with only one drive will still be a problem, but you are in the same situation even if we had ARJ or ZIP. ES> RG>here (not that there is any BBS with decent CBM support anyway). ES> Yeah, well I cant do much about that (: Me neither... I did try though (was rather succesful too) ES> Pursuit bbs is up & running again, That is as much use to me as tits on a bull ;-) ES> I think many people dont realize WOW ES> exists.. (or the space station for ES> that matter) Its poor education among the user groups. Its surprising the number of potential CBM bbs users there are that don't seem to realise that just because they are using a C64 computer that they don't have to call a BBS running on a C64, or that they if they do manage to log on to an IBM based BBS that they won't be able to use the files because they are in IBM format.
