GRUB is "GRand Universal Bootloader" or somesuch,  it replaces
LILO.  With a typical windoze installation it likes to act like it
"owns" the machine,  and puts its own code into the MBR,  which
LILO or GRUB replaces.  Not normally a problem unless you re-install
windoze,  at which point it gets overwritten...

Why should debian folks be expected to support knoppix?  I can understand
why they'd have a problem with that,  and don't see anything particularly
arrogant about this...
