EP>I heard that to grow rose bushes that you need to graft a cutting onto a
EP>root system. Is this true? Can you just plant the clipping? Thank you Eric

DB} I have taken for the past 20+ years a clipping from roses and other
plants and gotten *large* bushes and regular ruse bushes...depending on
what I want. I take a clipping where the new growth is coming off one
of the main plant lines. clip both sides so it looks like a letter Y and
plant the bottom part in just plain water. Sometimes I use a thing
called *root tone* and then just put that into dirt. Inside or outside I
find it makes no difference. I have done this on lilacs, hydrangeas,
and several other types plants/bushes. I live in Portland Oregon
so we get lots of rain or like last summer--lots of heat. Hope this
helps you and I'm sure others will answer you also with what they
do......happy growing!!
