compiler wants the name of a type.

Why shouldn't they? If you refer to the experts involved in the C++
standardization process, it's not correct to call them "the people
from ANSI". The ISO and ANSI commitee members represent companies
interested in the standardization (e.g. Microsoft, Borland, AT&T, Sun
etc.); they are not people from ANSI or ISO.
