PL>>> I once had a problem with a 486-66dx (I think) system like that... PL>>> turned out it was a chip that replacement cost was more than the system PL>>> was worth in mint condition itself. DC> DC>> Don't you hate it when that happens? PL>> Sux real bad. DC> I've got a whole bunch of stuff that used to have possible DC> homes. As you mentioned, it's hard to discard old friends... I've got crates full of parts, and many older systems and monitors laying around. My kitchen table is currently strewn with stuff... somebody I know wanted a system capable enough just to do e-mail and browse the web... the Pack-Bell 200 he's giving me a few bux for will suit his purposes fine, and get him on RR. I don't let anybody I know throw anything out anymore... many times I have been able to help folks without much bux have a machine to play with... I can usually scrap something together that will suit their basic internet needs and load them with a bunch of old games to mess with. The folks I know aren;t kids looking for all the high end bells and whistles so they are more often than not tickled.
