Hi Gwenny-Pooh!
EOC> Sega and Nintendo style games can also occupy them
EOC> for a good while -- if
EOC> you can keep them from yanking the cords too badly!
GT> Or throwing the controllers across the room. I
GT> asked the therapist about it when my son got labelled
GT> ADHD. She said that Nintendo offers enough variaty
GT> that they can do it without fidgeting.
(chuckle) Never had that problem, personally...
EOC> Standard sitcoms... Try for an hour, with Star Trek: Next Generation
EOC> reruns, or the rest of the Star Trek genre. At least those have
EOC> interpersonal and professional skills readily displayed, and they touch
on
EOC> a lot of the issues available in the press...
GT> My eldest was my "experimental child". He only got homemade baby food,
GT> didn't get candy until he was three or four, and only
GT> was allowed to watch PBS. My awakening came when he
GT> was about four and started playing with the neighbor
GT> kids. They would play superheroes and he would always
GT> come in a get a scarf and be "Dr Who" while everyone
GT> else was being superman or spiderman. That was when I
GT> started letting him watch Saturday morning cartoons.
Aww, gee... Enough personality and leadership, and he'd have been starting a
new trend!
AH>> Other than that, sitting still is pretty much out of
AH>> the question. I have two
AH>> diagnosed ADHD, and one I highly suspect is (I wait
AH>> till it gets unbearable
AH>> before I bring on the medication issue :-/). They inherited it from
AH>> their father. Needless to say, I sleep well at night!
EOC> They sure keep you hopping, all right!
GT> Trade ya three ADHD kids for ONE Gemini two-year-old.
That deal needs to go to Alinda, Gwen. I've got one hyperactive
stepdaughter, one physically and emotionally handicapped stepdaughter, one
petit-mal epileptic daughter and three (joint custody) near-angelic
geniuses... And only one boy in the whole pack!
Of this crew, me and the two 13 y/o girls are all Taurus, the 11 y/o is an
Aries on the cusp, and the rest of the b-days in the house run 10/18 (adult),
1/30 (boy), 12/2 and 11/26... The youngest is 5, and one of the 13 y/os is
our homechooler.
B*B!
