I know a guy whose family was stationed in the UK (his father was in the US militaryin Scotland, IIRC). They came back to the US in the Summer or Fall of 1963. He and his sister knew all about The Beatles, and had some of their records. He said it was so weird to come back to the States, and no one knew who The Beatles were. I was 13 when The Beatles came to America for the first time. Although, I have personal fond memories of family, friends, school etc during the pre-Beatles era, it was a harsher, meaner time. The advent of The Beatles in the US diluted that attitude. It was truly magical. -- All follow-ups are directed to the newsgroup rec.music.beatles.moderated.
