To all those running a later version of Binkley, e.g. 2.60, there
is an option "Nofilter", which will shave 2 seconds off the
negotation time.

If your modem reports "CONNECT 28800/LAP-M/V42bis"

Then sticking:

Nofilter /LAP-M

in your binkley.cfg will do the trick.

Nofilter LAP-M

will NOT work.

Here is what I use:

Nofilter /LAP-M
Nofilter /REL

It is not case-sensitive.  Using this option, a BinkelyBinkley
EC connect will negotiate to the file-transfer bit in about 1-1.5
seconds.  Which is half of the non-nofilter option of about 3+
seconds!  Time to get cracking!  BFN.  Paul.
