I haven't had any Warp 4 machines around in a while to test this as I 
went to WSEB and now to eCS quite awhile ago.  From my understanding 
though, it should work in theory (one of those it will probably work but 
not supported if it doesn't things).  The new version requires the 
runtime but the old one shouldn't be affected by it so that is odd.
I have used Mozilla and first IBM java and now Innotek java with Yahoo 
messenger and chat for quite some time without issue.  Have you tried 
jbuddy messenger from www.zionsoftware.com?  They have MSN, AIM, ICQ, 
Yahoo, and their own IM all in one java program that uses Java Web 
start.  Not to bad a program.
