  I was recalled in 1951 and had to buy my own black shoes. We got to wear 
the old Pinks and Greens for a while but then had to buy complete Blue 
outfits.. I think they did finally give recallees a one-time uniform 
allowance of $100.. :)   I still think we looked like Bus Drivers..
