5 years is the standard SCSI warranty. 1 year is the standard ATA
warranty, an industry wide phenom that began last October 1.

No it doesn't. There are no older 160 GB drives. 5400 means cooler
running and theoretically more reliability. Platter data density has
gotten so high that STR is the same at 5400 RPM as drives of lower
density and 7200 RPM. The prime difference now between last year's 7200
and current 5400 is access time, which is irrelevant to anyone using a
5400 RPM drive solely as a backup device.
