subject: Long file names

Hello PowerBasic and Windows 95 lovers,
For those of you who should like to use Windows 95 long file names
in their Powerbasic programs if possible, but don't know how to do
it, I have a solution. I made a unit supporting long file names in
PowerBasic (3.2) that you can link in your programs.
All you have to do is call the function EnableLfn, and presto, you
can use long file names with normal PowerBasic commands as OPEN,
BLOAD, BSAVE, ATTRIB (the statement), MKDIR, CHDIR and RMDIR. Also
for the second file name of NAME.
Other commands and functions, ATTRIB (the function), KILL, NAME (the
first file name), CURDIR$, DIR$ and FILES don't allow long file
names. Instead of them I made long file name versions, that can be
used on systems not supporting long file names as well in stead of
the PowerBasic commands and functions. They support error checking,
but use the DOS error codes in stead of the BASIC error codes.
In this way you can use the same code on all systems. However, under
Windows 95 the names of the files you use in your programs can be in
the long format. The unit offers a function to check long file name
support by the system.
Tell me if you are interested. I can send the file, PBLfn32.zip, by
means of Internet e-mail to some systems in North-America. For
programmer's in the Netherlands and surroundings: I upload the
file to the following systems:
